I think group events like this are healthy, in that they help young men to accept the gender difference in privacy norms. It's embarrassing for the guys, but it's easier in the knowledge that all their classmates have to do it too. And I think the women here would agree that they cannot be men in full until they learn to accept it in good grace.
And is it really so bad, compared with some of the hazing rituals at American universities? After all, many have blushed but few have died!
